name: Tiffani Taylor born: Ogden, Utah, September 12, 1979 now living in: Savannah, Georgia beginnings: My mom and grandparents taught me to seek the beauty of nature from an early
age. While camping in the mountains, my grandmother and I picked wildflower
bouquets and she’d point out the brilliantly red Indian paintbrush, the delicate
billows of the dandelion, and the hummingbirds that touched her heart. When I
was 16, I saw a poster for the Savannah College of Art and Design and knew it
was for me. What could be more incredible than to study and create in such a
beautiful city? I got a bachelor’s degree in fine arts and a master’s in art
history there.
artist’s statement
My work is a compilation of everything I feel within, the awe I experience
when confronted with nature, and the gratitude and passion I have for travel. I
enjoy making pottery because it’s a functional object that people can use and
appreciate every day. Poetry often f inds its way into my paintings and pottery.
I write stream-of-consciousness words on the pottery before the final glaze and
firing, inspired by whatever I’m thinking and feeling at that moment.
an average day
Sometimes I do large-scale murals; other times, I paint bird motifs on pottery.
I work best at night, often painting until 4 a.m. Since I was 15 years old, I’ve
painted or drawn almost every day of my life. I paint because I have to.
muse
ve always loved the process and tools for creating art. Every time I touch a
fresh tube of paint I feel such happiness, a fluttering in my heart, and
gratitude for the moment I’m in. The times of fear and uncertainty are
outweighed by the end result: I truly feel I’m living my dream.

next
I’m creating my own fabric line inspired by my paintings. I’d also like to make
my pottery available to a wider audience. I really believe in bringing art to
the people and making everyday life more beautiful and magical.
