Yearning for Summer
April 3, 2008
By Barbara Elliott Martin, Executive Editor
The news is reporting another snowstorm, making it the fourth for the season
(or fifth, if you count an ice storm we had at the end of January).
On a snowbound day, the best activity is to make a list from the latest seed
catalogs delivered by heroic mailwomen such as our carrier, Kim. For you
techies, www.seedsavers.org will inspire
you with their heartfelt mission.

For heirloom tomatoes, search www.heirloomtomatoes.bizland.com,
which has an extensive selection. Who could resist Yellow Stuffer? The color
alone will make you want to play in the dirt.
Get your cup of coffee, or tea if you prefer, find a sunny spot with a view
of powder-laden trees, and spend some time dreaming of summer.

You should come to the Phoenix area where
you can grow things year round :-)
For now, you can visit my blog and take in
some Spring beauties!

What wonderful happy thoughts!! If we ever
get the rain to stop long enough in KY,
maybe I can get some of my seeds in the
ground! I can't wait to smell all the
wonderful aroma's of Spring & Summer!

Good idea! I've started my tomato seeds and sugar snap
peas under a fluorescent light in my basement. And, the
peas are already peeking out of the dirt.

If only I had a green thumb. I'm still
holding out hope that one day I'll have a
luscious garden in my backyard. Hope the sun
peaks out and warms your skin soon:)
I have long been a fan of your magazine! So
glad I have discovered the ME Blog!!!

Sweet dreams. It's April 6, 2008 in St.
Louis. I have blue primroses blooming by my
front door, yellow daffodils everywhere, and
enough sunshine to make me believe that
sweet corn will be available one of these
days.
