Homecompanionmag.com is on the scene at the annual CHA Winter Convention and Trade Show

January 30, 2007
By John Pagliaro, Publisher
Anaheim, CA….…Today at the annual Craft Show, over 600 people swarmed onto the Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion booth to get a fresh view at the new look of the magazine with its 5 new editorial departments  --  Art of Business, Noteworthy, Pins and Needles, Top Stitch and NEXT, plus the many new advertisers that joined in the 10th Anniversary celebration.  All saying that they just loved the new format…

As we peak into the show, it appears that the new Home Accents Room Displays is setting the tone of the show…..crafting for Home Design. Created by Craft & Hobby Association members, we see handcrafted items for the home assembled into full-sized rooms….each room includes fabric treatments that have been stitched, knitted and crocheted with beading and felting on pillows, throws and table accessories.  Decorative painting is playing a inspirational role in the look of the rooms with decoupage, stamping and altered art leading the way.  Walls are now a spot for turning crafts into wall art….. let's showcase our crafts in frames and make them a centerpiece.

More to come...

Homecompanionmag.com is on the scene at the annual CHA Winter Convention and Trade Show

Mary just hosted over 200 fans at the Huntington Beach, California Barnes & Noble, chatting and signing for about 2 hours.  Copies of Home Companion, newly released books, old books, posters were among the items, and Mary happily signed.  One fan even brought in a homemade Ann Estelle doll!  The doll now sports Mary’s signature on her belly!

Some things overheard at the table:

▪ “What a great way to spend my Sunday! Mary is such an inspiration. My day was made.”

▪ “Mary – this original drawing of yours was given to me as a wedding gift. It would mean so much to me if you’d sign it!”

▪ And two young women presented a home-sewn quilt, decorated with patches of Mary’s art and characters. When Mary complimented them on their cute quilt they cheerfully responded, “Oh my God! You should see our dorm room – it’s totally Mary Engelbreit!!” Mary was touched.

I have plenty of pictures of the events and once my wife helps me download them onto the computer, I’ll post them here on the Home Companion site.

Thanks to the staff of Barnes & Noble for organizing and running a fabulous event. And, of course, thanks to you the fans for showing your support of Mary.
