Marcia Ceppos is a wrap star. Not the musical kind, but scissor-wielding, Dupioni-silk-bow-tying kind. She bestows friends with
gifts so gorgeously embellished, it pains them to open the packages. “Some
people actually prefer the wrapping to the gift,” laughs Marcia, who owns Tinsel
Trading Company, a famed New York shop that specializes in vintage trims. Marcia
and her ultra-talented Tinsel Trading design team—Rosemary Warren, Linda Ashton,
and Nancy Rosin—brainstorm throughout the year, but their creative juices really
begin to gush come December. “We go all out,” Marcia says. “If you visit New
York at Christmas, Tinsel Trading is right up there with the Rockefeller Center
tree and Macy’s window displays.” From gift beautification to chic centerpieces
and unique ornaments, “we’re a great resource for people who want to branch out
from traditional trimmings.”

four sizes, mica-flocked containers displayed in a pastel hutch are ideal for
stashing gifts. Bedecked with vintage houses and bottlebrush trees, artist JoAnn

sparkle, shimmer, shine
Like Santa with his trusty elves, Marcia relies on a
bevy of talented artists whose handmade treasures are available through Tinsel
Trading. (b) Sporting crepe-paper collars, Dee Foust’s
snowmen clowns are cheery. (c) Menu cards embellished with glass glitter add sparkle
to place settings. (d)
Jackie Baird’s hand-sewn dolls sport vintage fabric frocks. (e) Tuck sweet treats into JoAnn Salyers’ snowman candy boxes.

in-SANTA-ty! In lieu of jolly St. Nick, a wintry-white centerpiece features
Father Time. Doily placemats were crocheted from antique metal thread.
