About Mary Engelbreit

The most apt description of artist Mary Engelbreit may be aline pulled from one of her well-known greeting card designs: She truly is The Queen of Everything.

A highly successful magazine. 150 book titles in print. 14 million greeting cards and one million calendars sold per year. A range of licensed products – ranging from dinnerware to screensavers – sold at more than 25,000 retailers around the world with sales nearing $100 million annually. Mary has done it all, but always in a way her fans can relate and aspire to.

It all began with a young girl whose desire to create was so powerful that at age 10 she converted the family linen closet into her first “studio.” Mary’s passion and dedication to her art have never wavered, and she still hatches every concept in her head and draws every original illustration by hand.

In 1996, borrowing the name used from her successful series of interior design books, Mary Engelbreit launched her own magazine also called Mary Engelbreit’s Home Companion. The bi monthly home lifestyle magazine presents a variety of topics for women who are passionate about having the best for themselves and their families. In 2001, Belvoir Publications, a leading special interest publisher, became an operating partner in the magazine, bringing additional circulation and management support to the publishing operation.

This amazing degree of success is impressive for any company, but even more remarkable considering it all began with a girl who decided at age 10 that she was going to be an artist. That little girl’s dream has grown into a media and marketing empire, but Mary Engelbreit remains at its core, still drawing her pictures with the same sense of wonder, imagination and enthusiasm. Mary will fulfill a lifelong dream by illustrating a Mother Goose book, Mary Engelbreit's Mother Goose will be published by Harper Collins Children's Books and due out in September 2005.
