(a) Who’s the fairest of them all? A curvaceous beveled mirror rises to royalty in a crowning moment. Most local sign shops can easily manufacture the tiara decal directly from our website.

(b) Short on time but still want to add graceful, stylized designs to your mirror? Achieve the same effect with store-bought stickers or adhesive scrapbooking paper that you can cut yourself.

you will need:
Mirror or other smooth surface
Ruler or tape measure
Rub-off marker or grease pencil, such as Sanford Peel-Off China Marker
Vinyl decal made by a local sign shop; or stickers from a sticker-making machine, such as Xyron® Personal Cutting System or Xyron® Magic Sticker Maker; or store-bought stickers; or your own design cut from adhesive scrapbooking paper
Putty spreader, squeegee, or credit card (to smooth decal and work out bubbles)

how to make them
Find a surface on which to apply your decal(s). Visit local home stores for a wide mirror selection, or hunt for one-of-a-kind pieces at flea markets, estate sales, and antiques stores. Print your design.

For Vinyl Decals
1 Find a sign shop that manufactures vinyl decals, such as MACtac vinyl (mactac.com). Most sign sources can download the design directly from our website to be cut on a special machine called a plotter. Or you can download the file yourself, and bring it to the sign shop as an example.
2 Choose your style. Vinyl decals are available in a wide range of colors and textures, depending on the sign shop’s offerings. Explore solid, transparent, frosted glass, metallic, and glitter options.
3 The sign shop will provide a finished vinyl decal with heavy-duty, peel-off paper on the front and back.

For Stickers
1 Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to create designs from a sticker-making machine, or purchase store-bought stickers, or cut your own sticky designs from adhesive scrapbooking paper.
2 Measure for placement. Using a ruler and marker, mark the center of the area on your mirror where you want to place your design.
3 If using a decal, peel off the paper backing first. Holding the design in a “U” shape, place the decal on the mirror, matching the center to your mark. Smooth the edges out to either side. Apply stickers in a similar manner, using your center mark as a guide.
4 Use a putty spreader, squeegee, or credit card to carefully smooth out the decal/sticker surface. Remove stubborn bubbles by puncturing air pockets with a pin.
5 Carefully peel off paper front from vinyl. Wipe off marker guides.
