TO MAKE
STEP 1
Reduce or enlarge chosen images to fit front of each pumpkin. Print images on
palette paper. This paper will prevent moisture from the pumpkin from bleeding
through.
STEP 2
Center image in a circle that will fit flat on the front of the pumpkin. Cut out
circle. Place paper circle on pumpkin, and lightly trace around it.
STEP 3
Use knife to cut hole slightly inside the line you have traced on pumpkin. Be
sure to cut straight into pumpkin, not at an angle. Carve smaller hole in back
of pumpkin, large enough to fit a votive candle inside. It will also allow smoke
to escape. Clean out inside of pumpkin with spoon.
STEP 4
Glue paper fringe around perimeter on back of image. Let dry. Use straight pins
to attach images, pushing pins straight into pumpkin.
STEP 5
Insert candle through back hole. Light and enjoy, making sure to keep lanterns
out of reach of small children and pets.
