how to make
1 Lay paper towels on work surface and choose molds. 2 Melt
glycerin by following manufacturer’s directions. If using stovetop, melt on low
heat in saucepan or double boiler. If melting in microwave, use glass measuring
cup. 3 Add dye sparingly to melted glycerin. For pale hues, dip a toothpick
in dye, then swirl it in the glycerin. Repeat until desired shade is
achieved. 4 Cool slightly, then add fragrance sparingly, as with dye,
above. 5 Pour glycerin into molds or cake pan. If using cake pan, pour layer
at least 3⁄4 inch thick. 6 Spritz the surface of the glycerin with rubbing
alcohol. This will remove air bubbles and ensure a smooth surface. 7 Cool
molds completely, for at least one hour. If necessary put cooled molds into the
freezer for a few (less than five) minutes to help soaps pop out of molds. If
your soap is in a cake pan, invert to remove and cut shapes with cookie cutters.
Use a sharp kitchen knife to clean up any rough edges. 8 If adding large
lollipop sticks, note that soap must be at least 1⁄2 inch thicker than diameter
of sticks. Carefully insert sticks into bottom of soaps.
