(a) Let it snow! Gift recipients will melt at the sight of this jolly
icon. He comes to life on layered paper, trimmed with decorative scissors and
embellished with beads and ribbon. (b) A starry bead topper and touches of
glitter give this tree a magical glow. Shown here on a folded greeting card, the
image also works on to/from tags, invitations, and table place cards. All
ribbons and giftwrap, Midori.
(c) A decorative oval frame invites embellishment. This scalloped
edge is computer-generated, but you can also decorate by hand. (d)
Details matter. Make iridescent flames with glue pen and glitter, and add
dimension with hole-punched flowers.

how to make them
On all cards: Color copy these images or your favorite vintage
designs. Print or mount onto desired card stock. Save yourself a trip and use
embellishments you have on hand at home. (a) Jolly Snowman: Using decorative
scissors, trim around the snowman. Using this first shape as a guide, cut
increasingly larger oval (or desired shapes) from two sheets of coordinating
card stock. Layer the sheets, and punch a hole through all three layers at the
top. String together with twill tape or ribbon. (b) Twinkling Tree: To make
sparkly ornaments on the tree branches, dot glue and sprinkle dots with fine
glitter. Glue on a star-shaped bead for the topper. Let dry. If desired, trim
card bottom with decorative scissors. (c) Dashing Duo: To add this classic couple
to your holiday gifts, mount or copy the framed border onto the front of a
fold-over card. Using an X-Acto knife or scissors, cut out an oval from the
inside of the frame, just inside the dotted line. Inside the card, mount or copy
the festive figures so they show through the frame. Embellish as desired. We
used a vintage shell button and twill tape to finish the frame at the top.
(d) Peaceful Reading: Punch a hole through the center of three flower-shaped
sequins. Glue them around the candles as shown. With a glue pen, trace the lines
of the flame, and sprinkle with fine glitter. Let dry. Place a fourth flower
sequin at the bookmark top, and punch a hole through both layers. String with
twill tape or ribbon.
