Produced By Melissa Neufeld and Friends
RELAXED FIT
Each guest brought her own project, (a). Clockwise from top are
hostess/head jean-iologist Melissa Neufeld, Catherine Meek, Carmella Janssen,
Dena Fishbein, Barbara Schriber (Melissa’s daughter), Brenda Walton, and Karen
Harlan. (b) Issued by Melissa, the invitations feature Levi’s labels. So
simple to do -- just glue actual tags (or color copies) on cardboard, print words
on ticking backed with label stock, and glue ticking to cardboard.
JACKET REQUIRED
Anyone familiar with Melissa Neufeld’s work, particularly
her funky paper creations, knows that she can make art out of almost anything.
Cutlery holders (c) are just pockets snipped off the backs of old
jeans with pinking shears. Write names with gold glitter glue, a clever stand-in
for stitching. Cake stands (d) are wrapped in jacket bottoms hotglued
on their overlapping ends. Striped ticking bows decorate the base. (e) The three T’s--twine, transfer tape, and ticking.
JEAN POOL
Melissa provided a special treat for guests, unlimited
access to her craft archive, (f). Like a dim sum sampler, it includes such
delicacies as Bakelite and rhinestone buttons, gold horseshoe pendants,
Victorian mercury glass beads, and chunky old earrings.
