(b) With their perfect concentric heads, zinnias have a striking
graphic presence. Just displaying them in white vases makes a powerful

Moutet. (d) Coax a plain canvas window shade into full bloom. (e) Handmade flowers connect the flaps of a slipcover. To make
them, snip a piece of felt to dime size, then loop colored cord around the
edges, tacking “petals” in place with needle and thread. Glue a button in the

If it’s a blank canvas, Massachusetts artist Kristin Nicholas will surely

(g) Tired of ironing? Letting the laundry pile high again?
You need motivation. Perk up your laundry room with the fresh colors of summer
zinnias. Paint the walls a fun shade, stack colorful storage bins on shelves,
hot-glue silk flowers onto a peg rack. Next stop, the garage! Mulitcolored polka
