HERE'S THE STORY
(a) A folk-art rooster atop a stack of
books serves as a centerpiece. (b) Mimi, age 6, brought a book she’d outgrown and
swapped it for another. (c) This stylized chick doubles as a toy and table
decoration. Chairs, Maine Cottage.
PINK THINK TANK
(d) Meet Heather Bailey, an Arizona-based designer who
created the projects and children’s fashions for our luncheon, spotlighting her
new line of fabrics, Freshcut for FreeSpirit. (e) A toy sewing
machine provides retro inspiration. (f) Mini mannequin. (g) Ribbon stash.
FUNKY CHICKEN
(h) Chicken place card holder is constructed from a soft
drink can and scrapbooking papers. The vintage toy block is notched so that the
chicken, wearing a name tag initial, can perch inside. Find directions for this
project here; or on Heather’s blog, hellomynameisheather.com
. (i) Heather combines fabrics in bold but unlikely ways,
such as a mum-patterned tablecloth with striped napkins. (j) Heather’s
fabrics make fabulous layered skirts for dolls of all kinds, human and
otherwise.
