Artist’s profile: 1 Though Stacie Rife considers herself an “aspiring” collage artist, her work
is quickly gaining a good reputation among artists and designers in the altered
art arena. Her favorite medium for the last year has been atcs. She says there’s
something about this pocket-sized original art that unleashes creativity in her
Everett, Washington, home studio. Her work, which she sells on eBay, has been
featured in art ‘zines.
Heart’s Desire
(a) Stacie Rife creates two contemporary motifs using the heart as a focal point
of design. She covered a playing card with Refletix foil tape found at her local
hardware store, embossed it with a swirl design, and rubbed it with black
acrylic paint for instant patina. She then added a soldered glass charm. For her
second ATC, she used a photograph discovered at an antiques store along with a
birdcage and winged heart, to express how fleeting love can sometimes feel.
