TRENDS & TIPS from the experts
Spring’s color story is delicious—from white chocolate to bittersweet, and all the shades in between. “Rich corals and reds or cool, glacier blues and misty greens make perfect accents,” says Pamela Maffei-Toolan, vice president of design at Waverly Fabrics.

Pillows give your rooms a facelift without breaking the bank. Think of them as accessories for your home. Whether you go trendy or seasonal, changing pillows can change the whole look (and mood) of a room.

Texture plays a huge role. Raised needlework yarns against smooth cotton sateen add dimensionality and texture, a look that invites and welcomes touch.

Tips for tempting Toss Pillows
Make your own pillow from scratch, or simply buy one and personalize it. When it comes to materials, anything goes: leftover fabric, faux flowers, ribbons, tassels, one-of-a-kind buttons. Add festive French knots to the center of blooms. Play with contrasting colors. Think texture just as much as color. Plan your design first and apply your accents in such a way that knots and raw ends will be hidden.
