Show Them Off
(a) Bobbins, baskets, and spools will elevate your pincushions to new heights. Our cushions are made of fabric and patterns from Purl Patchwork.

Sew Cute
(b) Center a large motif, as in the round cushion, or use a trio of coordinating patterned fabrics, as in the pyramid shapes. Buttons, sewn by hand, are a bonus. The secret is in the stuffing: Use pure cotton stuffing for a solid, dense cushion.
Trends & Tips from the Experts
Cotton with a plain weave is the best fabric to use, especially for beginners: It’s easy to work with and comes in so many great colors and prints.

Use fabrics with small prints, so you can really see the pattern. For pieced pincushions, it’s fun to mix colors and prints. For a vivid contrast, try using at least one print that’s bright and cheerful and stands out a bit from the others (as we did with the triangular yellow pincushion).
