(h) This rare, ‘30s white witch tambourine is 6.25” in diameter. It was
designed in Germany, but made in the U.S.
(i) Mark’s favorite tambourine is an “exceedingly
rare” ‘30s item
made in the U.S. by T. Cohn of Brooklyn. “I’ve only found three
others
like it. I love the imagery and Art Deco smoke. It’s
valued from $500 to
$700.” (j) A sampling of visually rich
ratchets and shakers made in the ‘20s by the Bugle Toy Company of Providence,
R.I. “Bugle made some of the most interesting, quirky Halloween stuff,” Mark
notes. “It was a progressive company, really bold in its designs.” Coveted by
collectors is a ratchet decorated with a bikini-clad lady and a bug-eyed cat. “I
got it on eBay for only $150,” he says with pride.
