After stints in Manhattan with Jill Stuart and
Calvin Klein, textile designer and illustrator Lena Corwin went into
business for herself, moving to Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Her colorful melamine
plates, pillows, and neckties glow with layered patterns often based on nature
and the changing seasons. She credits her love for design, crafts, and fabric to
an artistic upbringing in San Francisco. “Places are important. Just walking
around Fort Greene, where grand trees and beautiful parks are mixed with rubble
and graffiti, is an inspiration,” she says.
