Hanging Beaded Votive Lanterns
It’s amazing what a little creativity and imagination can do with even the most
ordinary objects. For example, these fanciful hanging lanterns were made from dog food
cans, wire and some inexpensive glass beads. (The beaded bracelet napkin rings
described below, which can double as party favors, are constructed the same
way).
Instructions
1. Recycle dog food cans into fanciful hanging lanterns. Randomly drill holes
into can, placing two near the top for the beaded hanger. 2. Cut 24-gauge wire to
desired length for hanger plus an extra 6”. 3. String the wire with inexpensive
glass beads. 4. Thread one end of the wire from the inside of the can out and wrap
the extra wire over the top of the first bead and through the second to secure
it. Repeat on other side. 5. Clip any leftover wire. Stakes for hanging were made
from coat hangers. 6. Beaded bracelet napkin rings that can double as
party favors can be constructed the same way. Cut 24-gauge wire the
circumference of wrist plus 4 inches, string with glass beads and finish ends in
same way as lanterns. To wear, twist ends together.
